I had to go to GR today for my neice's school concert. Since I had the kids taken care of afterschool, I went ahead and left town early so I could go to Wiseman's specifically.
I've been there 3 times before today- twice at the new store, and once at the old store.
I have to say- I was very dissappointed today. The main portion of the store has pretty much turned into a regular grocery store, with regular prices. I found almost NO bargains (and in several cases, found it to be more expensive) in the main portion of the store. I did grab 2 packs of shaved ham lunch meat for $.99 a pack (brand name- don't recall what brand), and they had lunch sized bags of chips (light doritos, tostitos, and sour cream & onion chips) at 5/$1, so I grabbed 5 of those to send to work with Nick.
That was the only stuff I found in the main part of the store.
Now, back in the freezers, I did find some good deals. I'm not sure it would have been worth a trip there by itself (I've been planning to hit Wiseman's when taxes came back, along with other bargain shops), but the freezer section made the stop worth it.
I got a bag of 14 Pepperoni Bosco sticks (Never had em, but the kids LOOVE them at school) for $4.88.
Fajita Seasoned Chicken Breast Strips- $6.61 for almost 3 pounds- these will be great for making pasta salads, and wraps for lunches.
Buffalo Hot Wings- 2 poundss for $3.83
Hormel Cooked Sausage Crumbles- $2.54 for just over 2 pounds. These will work GREAT for adding to scrambled eggs, or for making breakfast burritos, or putting on top of homemade pizza. And it'll go a LONG ways!
Chicken Nuggets- 2 and ahalf pounds for $4.63
And last (and favorite), I got DQ Chewy Brownie Bites- these are what they use to make blizzards! OOOOH, this will be tasty. MmmMmMmmM... 2 pounds for $2.53
Not fabulous prices when you look at the per pound price, but still, fun foods, stuff we'll use, and stuff we can't find elsewhere. Or, if we can, it'd still be more expensive.
Anyone know when they started gearing more towards a real grocery store, instead of a grocery surplus store???
